Strengthening Regional Conservation Capacity and Leadership for ASAP Species Conservation

Strengthening individual and organisational capacity in Southeast Asia is a key pillar under ASAP’s strategy.

The recently developed IUCN global register of competences for threatened species recovery practitioners highlights the range and depth of skills, knowledge and personal attributes needed to effectively address the complex challenges of conservation. We believe that equipping conservationists with the capabilities to design, implement and manage effective conservation solutions, whilst creating and managing strong and resilient organisations, is essential.

Specific opportunities to strengthen conservation action in sought after subjects such as project management, strategy development, leadership and communications, are often hard to find in Southeast Asia. We are working with capacity development providers to give ASAP Partners the opportunity to enhance their knowledge and skills in key areas which are fundamental for the long term and successful conservation of ASAP species.
