ASAP to strengthen women’s leadership in Southeast Asia conservation
APPLICATIONS NOW OPEN FOR THE 2024 ASAP WOMEN IN CONSERVATION VISIBLE LEADERSHIP PROGRAMME
The IUCN SSC Asian Species Action Partnership (ASAP) is proud to announce the launch of the second round of its groundbreaking leadership programme, dedicated to empowering women in the field of conservation in Southeast Asia. Following the success of the inaugural round, the programme has been enhanced to provide an even more holistic approach, emphasizing the well-being of conservation leaders and fostering a tight-knit, supportive network among participants.
The programme is one of the only leadership training opportunities aimed at women working in conservation in the region. Over 8 months, women participants will be equipped with the skills and knowledge necessary to lead transformative initiatives in biodiversity conservation and environmental protection.
Building on the achievements of the first cohort, participants in the 2024 programme will have the opportunity to follow in the footsteps of women like Akchousanh Rasphone, Wildlife Lead and Chief Conservation Scientist at WWF Lao PDR, who says, “This programme has given me more than I ever imagined. All elements of the course came together so well in getting us to understand what it means and how to be visible to self, others and together. It is an impactful programme in supporting female leadership in conservation.”
The ASAP programme is led by Visibility Co, a renowned organisation that works at the intersection of leadership, strategy and communications.
Nerissa Chao, Director of ASAP, said of the upcoming programme, “We are thrilled to continue our commitment to empowering women leaders in Southeast Asia. This programme goes beyond traditional leadership training; it prioritises the well-being of participants and creates a supportive community that will last well beyond the programme.”
Applications to join the programme are now open and will be accepted until 31st January 2024. Those interested in joining this exciting programme can find out more and submit an application by visiting the ASAP website: www.speciesonthebrink.org/2024-visible-leadership.
ASAP remains dedicated to advancing conservation efforts in Southeast Asia and looks forward to welcoming a new cohort of dynamic and inspiring women leaders in 2024.
