Project aims

Protect Bangkaru’s Nias Hill Myna and Silvery Pigeon populations through ranger patrols, monitoring work, law enforcement, community engagement and environmental education.

Results

  • Rangers were hired and trained from local indigenous groups

  • Bird-focused ranger patrols were established on Bangkaru (previous focus was on nesting sea turtles only)

  • Ranger patrols confirmed localities that supported Nias Hill Myna and Silvery Pigeon
