Population monitoring and community outreach for the conservation of the Banggai Crow

Project aims

- Obtain updated information on the crow's distribution on Peleng Island, as well as population estimates
- Continue to engage with local communities, to help strengthen the community conservation areas.

Results

- 50 line transects were completed and population estimates produced
- Early indications that the population on Peleng Island has increased, and that there is a local range extension
- Community outreach was completed in nine villages, one of which issued an anti-hunting regulation, in support of the crow's conservation
