The emergency

Conservation breeding programmes for these three ASAP bird species faced funding shortages due to the impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic on the centre's donors.

Results

Funding was used to maintain operations for the conservation breeding programmes for all three species. Succesful breeding occured in the centre's captive populations of Javan Green Magpie and Rufous-fronted Laughing Thrush. Breeding of the Black-winged Myna was not actioned because of space limitions. Recent changes in this species' taxonomy mean it is no longer Critically Endangered, and therefore not an ASAP Species.
