The emergency

In 2020 several Bali Starlings were released on mainland Bali, Besikalung Wildlife Sanctuary. The released birds are dependent on a network of nest boxes. The COVID 19 pandemic removed the only source of staff funding for Friends of the National Parks Foundation. Friends of the National Parks Foundation needed urgent funding so that local staff could maintain the nest box network and engagement with the local community.

Results

The grant helped Friends of the National Parks Foundation's fund local staff to maintain and expand the nest box network as well as continue  engagement with the local community. Over the grant period, a total of 10 new nest boxes were constructed, installed and maintained.
