Project aims

SAVE’s network of partners shares a common vision: to prevent the extinction and enable the recovery of globally threatened vultures in South and Southeast Asia, by supporting the need to understand threats and guide priority conservation actions.

This meeting will bring together stakeholders from across the SAVE region (Bangladesh, Cambodia, India, Myanmar, Nepal, and Pakistan) to discuss the latest conservation and research efforts amongst partners and exchange best practices, with a particular focus on priority actions in the SAVE Blueprint “The Recovery Plan for Asia’s Vultures”.

Results

The meeting took place in February 2025, consisting of a two-day meeting in Phnom Penh and a three-day field trip to Siem Pang Wildlife Sanctuary. Two new range countries, Lao and Thailand, were involved, and there was government representation from Bangladesh, Nepal and Cambodia.

The revised SAVE Blueprint was launched and a reporting system introduced to improve the tracking of progress.

Through this meeting, the Cambodia Vulture Working Group also received committed support from the Cambodian Government for advancing next steps for vulture conservation, including hosting the inter-Governmental Regional Steering Committee.
