The emergency

The threats facing Asia's vulture populations are substantial and require long-term initiatives aimed at reducing the presence of toxic veterinary drugs, providing supplementary food, reducing stigmas, and preventing poisoning events.

The withdrawal of donors from Myanmar meant that BANCA faced an acute challenge in resourcing its long-term conservation programme for Myanmar's important population of vultures.
