ASAP Species That We Work On
What We Do
Auriga campaign in effort to protect the remaining natural forest cover in the country and the biodiversity within. In North Sumatra province, a dam project is destryoing Tapanuli orangutans habitat. The organization has therefore come up with a campaign to drive the protection of the species and its habitat.
In the last three years, Auriga has invested heavily in promoting civil lawsuits as a new tool to provide recovery for damaged species and/or habitat caused by the illegal wildlife trade. A guide has been developed, and a series of dissemination undertaken, including ones focusing on legal scholars.
Auriga are also conducting reforestation of 1,257 hectares in Way Kambas National Park. As the national park contain rich biodiversity including megafauna of Sumatran rhinos, Sumatran tigers, and Sumatran elephants, Auriga hopes that reforestation can help in maintain the population of these protected species.
