About Us

Over the past 10 years, WHIS has developed a holistic strategy combining scientific research, habitat protection and management, policy work, capacity building, community development, as well as education and public awareness.

We are  on shorebirds and habitat conservation in east coast of Sumatra especially North Sumatra and Aceh as habitat for critically endangered Spoon-billed Sandpiper, Nordmann’s Greenshank, Far-eastern Curlew, Great Knot and others.

We do a research for conservation purpose of little study species in North Sumatra especially Modigliani's nose-horned lizard, Asian Giant Tortoise, Straw-headed Bulbul and Nias Hill Myna.

We do monitoring and collect data from wildlife market, focus on Straw-headed Bulbul, Nias Hill Myna, Sumatran Laughingthrush, turtle & tortoise and snakes.

We produce video documentaries for education and public awareness.
