ASAP Species That We Work On

What We Do

Helmeted Hornbills

The fate of Helmeted Hornbills is getting worse.  In Indonesia, Helmeted Hornbill hunting is real. Based on the survey, people in Sumatra who often enter the forest said, before the rise of hunting, the sound of Helmeted Hornbill will be heard one to two times a day. We are trying to conduct surveys and monitoring of Helmeted Hornbills spread in West Sumatera Province. Campaigns on the importance of Helmeted Hornbills sustainability should continue.

Sumatra Toad

Sumatra toad is one of the rarest amphibians in Indonesia. The Sumatra toad had become a ‘mythical toad’ which since found first and then never encountered again. Since it was first described in 1871, the Sumatra toad can only be found back in 2001. For 141 years, Sumatra toad which is endemic to the island of Sumatra, is a myth.

We are still trying to find the existence of the Sumatra toad in West Sumatera Province.
