This species is endemic to Lake Kurumoi, which lies in the middle of the narrow isthmus connecting the Birds Head Peninsula with the remainder of New Guinea in Indonesia. The lake is situated in hilly terrain at an elevation of about 400 m (Kadarusman et al. 2010, G.R. Allen pers. comm. 2019).Geographic Range
